Purpose and Main Activities
This program aims to provide students with hands-on experience in overseas research environments. Through interactions with researchers and graduate students, students will develop skills in international academic exchange and academic networking.
- The main activities include visiting the University of Tokyo and its affiliated Koishikawa Botanical Garden, as well as interacting with several ecology-related research laboratories in fields such as marine ecology, plant ecology, entomology, conservation, and theoretical ecology. Students will also introduce their research and participate in student exchanges. An informal exchange dinner is also planned in the evening. Participating students will introduce their research interests in English, learn about the research of others, and explore possibilities for future academic exchange, further study, or collaborative research.
- The program will also include participation in the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Society of Population Ecology. Participating students will give poster presentations and attend academic sessions, providing opportunities for both formal and informal interactions with diverse researchers and students from across Japan.
- Before departure, students will participate in EMI-based preparatory courses covering preparation for research laboratory visits, self-introduction, explaining research topics, asking questions, arranging meetings, and methods of communication at academic conferences. After returning to Taiwan, students will reflect on their experiences at the University of Tokyo and their academic networking experiences at the conference, and report on how these experiences can be connected to their future learning, research, and career development.
