Laboratory Introduction: This laboratory investigates the pathologies and molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance and carbohydrate/lipid metabolic imbalance (including diabetes, obesity, fatty liver disease, and sarcopenia) caused by genetic and dietary factors. In recent years, the laboratory has focused on the molecular mechanisms of sarcopenia and the identification of molecular targets for its prevention and treatment. Functional foods are also being developed as strategies for preventing or improving sarcopenia and carbohydrate/lipid metabolic imbalance.

Research Directions:

1. Investigating the effects and molecular mechanisms of functional foods in preventing or alleviating age-related sarcopenia.
2. Investigating the molecular mechanisms by which functional foods alleviate insulin resistance and related complications (renal injury, fatty liver, and lipid accumulation in adipose tissue).
3. Studying functional foods that activate PPARs and their applications in carbohydrate and lipid metabolic disorders.
4. Using genomics and proteomics approaches to study the regulation of aging-related metabolic homeostasis genes by functional foods.
